Andy Cohen is an exuberant singer, acoustic guitar player and piano pounder who has made his living for over thirty-five years playing old Southern music: Country Blues, Ragtime, Gospel Music, Old Time music and Field Hollers. Andy has that rare ability to absorb the very substance and character of the older players. His repetoire comes from direct contact with many of the old masters and from the study of literally hundreds of old recordings (his own recent CD is "The Sacred Songs of Rev. Gary Davis"). Joining forces with his wife Larkin Bryant has added a new dimension to his performances.

Larkin, another thirty year veteran of traditional music, is a superb Appalachian dulcimer player in addition to rhythm guitar, mandolin, washboard, spoons and Memphis country blues vocals. "Larkin's Dulcimer Book", now in its 19th printing, has sold so consistently that it has become the bible for beginners on that instrument and her new recording "Lark In The Twilight" truly exemplifies the beauty of the Mountain dulcimer.

"The queen of the Appalachian dulcimer and the guru of American blues....musically unexpected but extremely satisfying. Here we have two professionals, well trained in two seemingly opposite fields, making their respective disciplines accommodate each other's style - as equal partners. Great guitar and dulcimer playing, powerful singing, and great good humor about the whole thing." - Judy Stein, Focal Point, Webster Groves, MO

It's an eclectic mix of music, to be sure, and Andy and Larkin let their affection for the music and their audiences carry the evening.

Andy and Larkin will present a show of Traditional Southern Folk Music for children on Sunday, March 11. At this show, they will play gazillians of instruments (guitars, banjo, moutain dulcimer, fiddle, autoharp, steel guitar, mouth bow, washboard, imaginary jugs, spoons, fiddle sticks, hands, hammered dulcimer)... they'll sing all kinds of songs (Appalachian, old time country, cowboy, country blues, swing, ragtime, ballads, pre-blues)... and they'll actively engage the kids in yodeling, singing, doing the hambone, playing in a jug band, clogging, clapping games, playing with dancing dolls (limberjacks) and whimmy diddles. Andy and Larkin will teach the kids how life used to be for kids and big people in the days gone by. Reservations are required and space is limited -- please contact us soon to reserve your spot! Concert is recommended for kids from kingergarten through grade 5.
