The Folk Song Society is delighted to present a family concert featuring Jon Gailmor of Vermont. He sings original, relevant, irrevelant, children's, American, international, and totally absurd tunes. "The more I sing and work with children, the greater I see the need for kids to really act their age. There is nothing sadder than the kid who hasn't had a childhood. We've got to squash this desire of kids to hurry up and be grown-up, and the nasty habit some adults have, of facilitating it. Here's to perpetual childishness and immaturity!"
Jon was born in New York State and was raised in Philadelphia, and has been writing and singing songs since 1971. He's performed in a tennis stadium in Lima, Peru, in theatres in Russia, Latvia and Ecuador, in schools, colleges, childcare and senior centers around the United States, in clubs, coffeehouses and prisons and on tour with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, to name a few settings. He gives songwriting workshops and residencies in schools and at conferences throughout the country.
Since 1979, Jon has hosted and produced a weekly radio show in Vermont for kids and immature adults called "Just Kidding", starring Vermont's Children.
